Creating Space For Women in Nontraditional Fields
Founder & CEO
Emily has been on a mission to help women from the beginning of her career. While earning her BA in Women's Studies, she worked as a courtroom advocate for women in domestic violence cases. She then went on to law school, and became a trial attorney with Legal Services, helping disadvantaged women and children. After practicing law Emily began working on the business side of things. She is the co-owner of a truck and heavy equipment safety training firm, which she and her husband and business partner Ryan have spent the last 10 years growing into a thriving national business. She is a member of Women in Trucking, as well as Empowering Women in Industry, and advancing women in nontraditional fields is her passion. A lifelong boot lover, Emily trained in shoe making in Cuernavaca, Mexico and at the Brooklyn Shoe Space in New York.
Ryan has a diverse background in business and project management, including overseeing large government and military contracts and corporate partnerships. After receiving his Master's Degree in Communications and Mass Media, Ryan spent some time on the academic track, teaching at colleges such as Temple and NYU while also handling various media projects. He has over a decade of experience owning and operating a company in the transportation industry, utilizing his background in education and his hands-on management philosophy. With his wife and business partner Emily, he has grown the company into a highly successful firm with a national reach. When approaching projects and business ventures, Ryan's focus has always been on establishing sustainable long term growth strategies.
Amanda trained at the Pratt Institute, and is a senior level footwear design manager with over 11 years of industry experience. Her resume includes such powerhouses as LOFT, Naturalizer, and Cole Haan. Although she has the corporate design experience many would envy, much of her passion lies with designing brand-defining launch collections for startups. Empowering women through safe, comfortable, stylish shoes is her jam.
Jessie is a writer, scientist, and student. When she's not blogging for Juno Jones, she is working on her undergraduate degree in Biology at Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland, with a focus on cell and molecular biology and infectious disease. She enjoys working in the laboratory (she's made more agar at midnight than she would care to admit), writing about science or music, and supporting and empowering women in STEM in any way she can.
